Bringing the ancient philosophy of Stoicism to Sydney! Following several successful Stoicon-X Melbourne events, our inaugural Sydney event took place on
Sunday 31 May 2026, 10 am to 2 pm, at Australian Catholic University North Sydney Campus

The ancient philosophy of Stoicism has experienced a revival. Stoicon-X events bring speakers and attendees together to learn and discuss this philosophy of life

Dr Tyler Paytas is a philosopher in the Western Civilisation Program at Australian Catholic University. He is co-author of Plato's Pragmatism: Rethinking the Relationship between Ethics and Epistemology (2021) and co-editor of Kantian and Sidgwickian Ethics: The Cosmos of Duty Above and the Moral Law Within (2020). Benjamin Seldon (Sydney) is a highly awarded English Teacher, Head Teacher and Deputy Principal at Balgowlah Boys High School, 2002 -2026, with an interest in philosophy, literature and psychology.

Peter Ashby Smith writes and speaks on Stoic Futurism – applying Stoic philosophy to AI, technological disruption, and modern work. His focus is building resilience, clarity, and agency in uncertain environments. He is an Associate Director at UNSW Sydney and a sessional academic at Charles Sturt University, working across student engagement, digital information literacy and institutional change.

Edward Benet (Sydney) is the creator of the 'Ultimate Mindmaps' series of brainstorm notebooks. Until recently he was a detractor of Stoic philosophy, but is now an avid student and practitioner.

Judith Stove (Sydney) is a writer and student of Stoicism. Her latest book is Marcus Aurelius and His Legacy: Seeking Rome’s Kingdom of Gold (2025).
